BETTINA SAMSON

Bettina has a Diplôme National Supérieur d'Expression Plastique (DNSEP), Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Lyon and a DEA d'Arts Plastiques, Université de Paris 1, Panthéon-Sorbonne. Bettina Samson has developed a protean plastic practice whose pieces draw on socio-historical, sometimes scientific facts and the history of modernity, whose fields she crosses with parallel stories or anecdotes: artistic avant-garde and the scientific conquest of the visible, popular culture and utopias, anthropology and mathematics, modern architecture and the natural sciences, animation and animism. For each project, she carefully determines the forms, materials and techniques - sometimes artisanal - best suited to condense her research, not hesitating to incorporate accident or improvised forms. Her sculptures, installations and photograms play with the dialectic between visible and invisible, the relationship between form and formlessness, appropriation and metamorphosis.
