Emmanuel Lagarrigue's work has developed over the last fifteen years around the central themes of language, memory, experience and perception. Long articulated by the use of sound, it now flourishes in many other fields: sculpture, video, dance, performance... His work particularly questions the processes of individual construction, both in the relationships they maintain with external elements (from the figure of the other, to history and cultural constructs) and in the limits of their transmission and sharing.
The exploration of language is undoubtedly a key feature of Emmanuel Lagarrigue's work. Through its written and spoken use, but even more so through the physical impact he gives it in his recent sculptures, he develops a hypertextual universe where processes of transformation, translation and transcoding refer to the diffracted construction of identity as experienced in contemporary times.
