Born in 1972, Strasbourg (France), Lives in Paris.
The work of Emmanuel Lagarrigue grows from ten years around the central themes of language, memory, experience and perception. For a long time articulated by the use of sound, it flourishes in many other areas: sculpture, video, dance, performance… His work questions especially the processes of construction of the self, both in their relations to external elements (the figure of the other, history, cultural and politic buildings) and within the
limits of their transmission and sharing.
The exploration of language is probably the most important marker of Emmanuel Lagarrigue’s work. Through its
written or spoken use, but also by the physical impact he gives to it in his sculptures, he develops a hypertextual
world where the processes of transformation, translation and transcoding refer to the diffracted construction of
the identity as it is experienced in modern times. Download Full CV.
